My teaching philosophy is centered in empathy. While I value the mastery of instruments and repertoire, I firmly believe that much of music education is a personal journey of self-discovery and understanding.
Drawing from my experience in music, I have come to value the importance of human connection, compassion, and integrity, and I strive to incorporate these principles in my interactions with students to develop a robust foundation of trust.
I strive to be consistently and acutely aware of the varied experiences and challenges faced by my students due to their diverse backgrounds. My aim is to facilitate curiosity, a driving force that’s essential for effective learning.
My teaching methods span a spectrum of guided listening/performance/theoretical/experimental practices. The goal is to equip students with the aptitude for critical listening, help to perceive and connect with various elements of music, and convey these elements confidently and with intent through creative works.
I have limited availability for virtual lessons or in-person lessons in the Northern Los Angeles area.
